For those that fight for your religious/nonreligious views… I have a question

And that question is, how far is to far?

How far are you willing to go to prove your religious/nonreligious views are correct?

This question arose after reading an article over on PZ Myers blog related to a Defense Department course related to an Anti-Islamic campaign that could in their own words turn into “Total War”.

This class was held at the Joint Chief of Staff College, and performed by Lt. Col. Matthew A. Dooley. Now I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume, Lt. Col. Dooley believes himself to be a good Christian (not trying to single you guys out, but I’m pretty sure this is the case. If I’m wrong leave a comment.) and a “defender of his faith”.

Here are some of the things he recommends in this 4 phase presentation:

  • Islam reduced to cult status
  • Saudi Arabia threatened with starvation
  • Making international laws that protect civilians “no longer relevant”
  • applying “the historical precedents of Dresden, Tokyo, Hiroshima, Nagasaki” to Islam’s holiest cities, and bringing about “Mecca and Medina[‘s] destruction.”

These are only a few things that are on the table for this presentation. While the top brass have ordered an investigation and the pulling of any Anti-Islam course materials, it goes on to say that many of these “anti-terrorists” that spoke during the eight week presentation have infected top military posts, as well as law enforcement. Meaning that these people are getting high ranks in their fields and controlling the views and actions of many others, potentially poisoning their minds.

So again I ask, how far is to far?

Would you wipe out a whole city to flex your religious rights?

I ask this because I know Wiccans live by one ultimate law, and this kind of shit breaks that law to pieces.

Maybe they should consider this one little phrase before threatening the world with a total war that could escalate into not just a world war but a civil war here in the US.

“An it harms none, do as ye will.”

Let me repeat that: “An it harms none, do as ye will.”

Once more for posterity “An it harms NONE, do as ye will.”

If we would consider this one law of morality the world would likely be a better place. This is for all sides.
